Love this Quote

Joseph F. Smith said "It is not for you to be led by the women of the world....it is for you to lead the women of the world in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and that is purifying to the children of men."

About Me

Saw this on some one's blog...so paste and copy your own answers in comments, or on your own blog!

When I was a child... I thought everyone was good.

I can't imagine my life without... my husband.

If I could be anywhere, I'd be... at the Davenport Hotel (or some other luxury establishment that makes your bed for you and leaves candy on your pillow and a fluffy clean towel and robe in your bathroom that you don't have to wash yourself).

My least favorite chore is... cleaning or yard work in general!

If I could be on any t.v. game or reality show, it would be... Oprah, promoting my Wimzie Prints brand and the "365 days of Thanks" challenge (coming soon!)

If a mystery package arrived on my doorstep, I'd hope it would be... seed money for my business (and a new wardrobe and possibly a lifetime membership to L.A. Fitness plus free babysitting)

My guilty pleasure is... eating ice cream. Hence the need for lifetime membership to L.A. Fitness in mystery package.

I thought I would never... have huge regrets and feel powerless to change the course of my life.

If a genie granted me three wishes, I’d wish for... things too personal or embarrassing to list here

You would never guess it, but I...love the great outdoors.

My cards have gone retail!

In case you haven't heard, I've started a little greeting card company called Wimzie Prints. It's been just over a month since I launched the brand and they are now in their first retail location: Vanhoff's Garden Center and Gift Shop in Coeur D'Alene Idaho. My goal is to have my cards in 300 high end boutique retail locations in the next two years. Individuals can also purchase the cards online at wimzieprints.com

P.S. If you want to get special deals on my cards you can either sign up for our email list at wimzieprints.com or join our facebook fan page to get special discounts and find out the latest news about Wimzie Prints. Thanks to all my friends and family who have been so supportive of this little venture of mine!

Smith Family Update

A lot has happened since I last posted so I have many things to share. Here is our last month in a nutshell:
This was Calvin's first professional haircut at the Velvet Touch in Kent, WA. I will miss my wonderful Salon ladies Velvet and Ashely who have taken such good care of me for the last two years. It's so hard to find a good Salon!

Calvin can finally drink from a straw. After many attempts and spills he has now mastered this skill. If only his daddy would stop giving him tastes of his soda!

I have been reluctant to let Calvin feed himself with a spoon because we only had carpet in our apartment except for a 3 square foot section in the kitchen (our kitchen was TINY). I am getting tired of spoon feeding him, however, so I moved his little booster seat into the kitchen one day to let him have at it. There wasn't room for the both of us in there so I couldn't really help him. He had a great time. I had to give him a bath and mop the floor afterward.

This photo was taken the morning before we moved. Our good friends Jeff and Nicole had invited us over for Sunday Brunch, since our kitchen was pretty much packed up at that point. We really appreciated it (and it was so yummy!) Calvin was not feeling so well, though and fell asleep in daddy's arms. A rare photo op...

This was moving out day in front of our apartment. We were so glad to be moving out of that tiny place!

This is our new rental in Spokane. We have twice the space for $300 LESS per month. We are loving it. I had set Calvin down on the grass to take this picture and he did not like it. For some reason he does not like the texture of grass. Probably because he has spent his entire life indoors. Now that we have a yard we really need to play outside more!

This is Calvin riding in the shopping cart at Lowes. We went to buy our first lawn mower. I also bought some tomato plants and some thyme and basil plants. We'll see if I can keep them alive long enough to produce any fruit. I did not seem to inherit my mother's green thumb.

Ryan hasn't started his new job yet and I have had loads of work coming in so he has been keeping house and watching Calvin (and doing a fabulous job I might add) while I work all day long in my VERY OWN office (no more office in the dining room!). He has even cooked a few meals (shocker!). Here is one of his creations: Bacon Wrapped Sirloin 'a-la-fork'. It was delicious.

A few other things to note: Calvin's latest thing is to repeat the words "no no no no" while doing something associated with the word, like flushing the toilet over and over again or playing with his Daddy's computer. He is also starting to take his first steps all by himself. He gets so excited to walk to Ryan or I that he lunges forward and usually falls face first but he'll get the hang of it eventually. We are loving our new home, the sunshine and the people we have already met. Our ward is so friendly and we get to go to church in the stake center right next to the Temple in a beautiful setting. We are excited for this new beginning in our lives but will really miss all our friends in Renton (I miss my book club girls already!).

I feel like the Lord has led us to this particular neighborhood. It feels like the place we need to be.

Calvin's Health Update

Calvin had his appointment with an orthopedic specialist and geneticist at Seattle Children's hospital today. While there they did a complete bone scan and discovered his clavicles had grown in since birth and his fontanel is almost completely fused. He is in the 98th percentile for his height and his pelvis structure seems normal (thus ruling out the previous diagnosis of Cleidocranial Displaysia).

He does, however have very flattened, pointy vertebrae on his entire spine and there is a displaysia or abnormality at the end of all his bones where the joints meet. They look bell shaped, where normal bones are more rounded at the ends. We met with the leading orthopedic displaysia specialist and geneticist at Children's and they are baffled. They are pretty sure he does not have CCD but can not figure out which category of bone displaysia he is manifesting. They are sending his X-rays to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and we are to await their feedback.

It was an interesting appointment (not too fun having to hold my baby down while he screamed for an hour during the bone scan...) and we are not too worried, since he seems to be growing and developing normally but it will be nice to have a more accurate diagnosis (if there is one...). They will want to see him again in 3 to 6 months, which means we'll be trekking it over to Seattle from Spokane I guess...

Calvin in Action!

Friday, May 8, 2009

It's Official!

So, in case you haven't heard, we're moving to Spokane! Ryan will be working for the same company, just transferring. We'll most likely be moving June 1st (still have to find a place to rent!) I should be excited because we've been trying to move closer to my parents for the last year or so but as the time approaches I'm getting more and more sad to leave all my friends here. This is the first place I've lived since I've been married where I actually have a group of girl friends that I actually hang out with on a regular basis (I have book club, craft night, girl's night, play group, not to mention my daily walking partner, Kim). I will miss everyone so much (but not the grey skies, rainy days and incessant mold and mildew. Good-bye and good riddance!) Spokane here we come...
